802.11b can be a disruptive technology
This week end I am going to be in Milan. The weather is beautiful and not very cold. Reading some e-mails etc...
Let's hope that politics does not stop Jabber from becoming a standard: Instant Standard - Jabber is preparing to submit itself to the IETF as a standard for instant messaging and presence services.
From 802.11b site, it is a correction but the technology is still very interesting: "Correction: Telesym Wi-Fi phone works peer-to-peer as well as through central phone systems (PBXs): a product manager at Telesym very nicely corrected my story of a few days ago about the potential of Wi-Fi phones. These devices will work peer-to-peer for voice-over-IP conversations. If you want to dial out into the PSTN (public switched telephone network), you need a PBX. (My original point still stands: this phone offers an enormous opportunity for companies to built quasi-cell-phone-style networks that overlay existing Wi-Fi infrastructure, a la Boingo's partnerships.)"
Hazy in Milan today; going to work with Misha on the new graphic design of tipic.com. Want something fresh and light!
Back to Milan today, after a business day in Rome and a week-end in Naples. Trying to catch-up with the e-mails and figure-out this week's to do list.
What a beautiful day in Rome today..... :-)

Starting today TipicIM is being distributed in Spanish Newsstands!
DB back-up, always remember to do it often! We risked loosing some valuable data today and had to work hard to restore the DB. Now it is back, fortunately :-)
Developers have been asking for a guide about building IM services on top of Tipic's platform. Now paperino and umberto have just released a guide to writing your own ATE Plug-In. That's powerful stuff; using that you can have your applications up and running in minutes.
